Create an animated visual poem around 1 minute in length .

Concept

This video project illustrates “Hope is the thing with feathers," a poem by Emily Dickinson, through concept, sound design, and motion design. I built this project in 2020, and it was an opportunity to take a snapshot of my headspace at the time. Dickinson's poem captured the feeling of uncertainty and perseverance and I wanted to use my own perspective to bring it to life in an animation.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -

That perches in the soul -

And sings the tune without the words -

And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -

And sore must be the storm -

That could abash the little Bird

That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -

And on the strangest Sea -

Yet - never - in Extremity,

It asked a crumb - of me.
